Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about Reformer Full Body Sculpt.
Q: What makes this different from other Reformer Pilates classes in North York?
The combination of therapeutic focus and exceptionally small class size creates a fundamentally different experience. With only 4 clients maximum at our Sheppard studio, your instructor can provide the individualized attention necessary for addressing specific pain points and movement dysfunctions. Most Pilates studios in the Greater Toronto Area accommodate 8-12 clients per Reformer class, which makes personalized modification nearly impossible. Our therapeutic approach means every exercise serves a healing purpose alongside building strength.
Q: Do I need Pilates experience to take this class?
No prior experience is necessary. The slower, controlled pace actually makes this an ideal introduction to Reformer Pilates because you have time to learn proper form and understand how each movement should feel in your body. Your instructor will provide modifications to match your current ability level while still challenging you appropriately.
Q: I have arthritis in my knees and hips—will this class be too intense?
Reformer Full Body Sculpt is specifically designed for all fitness level . The spring resistance supports your joints while moving them through their full range of motion, which research shows can reduce stiffness and improve joint function. Your instructor will modify any exercises that create discomfort.
Q: How does this class help with pelvic floor weakness?
Unlike classes that simply tell you to "engage your core," Reformer Full Body Sculpt teaches you to coordinate pelvic floor activation with functional movement patterns. You'll learn to engage these muscles during exercises that mimic real-life activities—pushing, pulling, twisting, bending—which is how pelvic floor strength actually translates to daily life. The Reformer's spring resistance provides feedback that helps you feel when you're engaging correctly, and the small class size ensures your instructor can verify your technique.
Q: Can this class help with chronic back pain?
Many clients report significant back pain reduction, though we always recommend consulting your healthcare provider before starting any new exercise program. The class addresses back pain through core stabilization, improved movement patterns, and identifying compensations that contribute to your discomfort. The spring resistance allows you to strengthen the deep muscles that support your spine without the compression and impact that can aggravate back pain.
